Description

This refreshing blend of avocado and banana is not only vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free but also suitable for adults, pregnant women, babies, and toddlers alike.

Ingredients

  • Equipments Needed

Instructions

  1. Start by gathering your ingredients: 1 ripe avocado, 1 ripe banana, 1 cup of almond milk, 1 tsp desiccated coconut and a handful of ice cubes.
  2. Next, peel and stone the avocado, and slice the banana into smaller pieces.
  3. Simply blend together ripe avocados, ripe bananas, and a liquid of your choice (try any dairy-free milks such as Almond milk, Oat milk, coconut water or just plain water for a lighter option). Add some ice if desired and blend until smooth and creamy. You can also add a dash of cinnamon for extra flavour. I used Almond milk as I think it taste better than most other dairy-free milks.
  4. Garnish with desiccated coconut or crushed cardamom pods
  5. Serve it immediately

Notes

  • Use a frozen ripe Banana for the best flavour and results as it thickens the smoothie
  • Add extra milk if the smoothie is too thick. Add extra frozen banana or avocado if it’s too thin.
  • To make your smoothie extra creamy, add a scoop of protein powder or collagen powder.

Add a Twist to Your Smoothie with These Tasty Variations!

If you’re looking to boost your protein intake, try adding a scoop of your favourite protein powder. This will not only give your smoothie an extra nutritional punch but also help keep you fuller for longer.

For a tropical twist, add a handful of pineapple chunks or a squeeze of fresh lime juice. This will give your smoothie a refreshing zing that’s perfect for those warm summer days.

If you’re feeling adventurous, try adding a spoonful of nut butter or a sprinkle of chia seeds. This will add a rich, creamy texture and a dose of healthy fats to keep you satisfied.

And for a sweet treat, why not blend in a handful of berries or a drizzle of honey? This will give your smoothie a burst of natural sweetness that’s sure to satisfy your cravings.

Storage Options: How to Keep Your Avocado Banana Smoothie Fresh

This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately but if you want to store it, the avocado banana smoothie may be refrigerated for up to 24 hours. It may then begin to lose flavour and nutritional value. If you need to keep it for a longer period of time, you may freeze it for up to 3 months.

Simply pour an avocado banana smoothie onto an ice cube tray or freezer-safe container and freeze until firm. Transfer the frozen smoothie cubes to a freezer bag or container and place in the freezer. When ready to serve, defrost the frozen smoothie cubes at room temperature or combine them with a little liquid until smooth.

Here are some tips for storing an avocado banana smoothie:

  • Store the smoothie in an airtight container to prevent it from oxidizing and turning brown.
  • If you are freezing the smoothie, make sure to leave some headspace in the container to allow for expansion.
  • When thawing the smoothie, stir it occasionally to prevent it from separating.
